Adventurous in her interpretation of cherished melodies, vocalist Bronwyn Cronin serves up a modern juxtaposition of classic tradition and modern innovation. Her voice has graced venues as magnificent as the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France, as well as obscure villages in Nepal and India. Although classically trained in opera with the late Gimi Beni, and holding a BA in Vocal Performance from ORU, Bronwyn feels most at home swinging to the familiar melodies of the traditional American songbook.
“I like the freedom and exhilaration of improvisation,” she says — a philosophy that carries into every performance with her quartet, Jazzville, which weaves yin and yang into balanced harmony, celebrating both individuality and collaboration. The result is a set of selections that are at once timeless and endlessly re-interpretable, delivered with a boundless, transformational creativity. Bronwyn lives in Western North Carolina with her husband, Derek Cronin, and their two children.
